Day 1: Sacred Heritage to Modern Nightlife

Explore the heart of Rattanakosin, or Old Town, to experience the spiritual and historical depth of the palace and temples, as well as the vibrant energy of the city.

Morning

Begin your day in Rattanakosin (Old Town Bangkok) at the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, also known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Together they comprise one of Thailand’s most sacred and historically significant complexes. Requirements for respectful/modest attire apply at temples, mosques, and other religious sites. Visitors should avoid disrupting religious observances and remain mindful of posted customs.

Then continue on to Wat Pho, also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, home to the iconic statue and the birthplace of traditional Thai massage.

Afternoon

Visit the Bangkok National Museum to deepen your understanding of Thai history, art, and royal traditions.

Optional add-on: For panoramic views of Bangkok, visit the Mahanakhon Skywalk.

Then journey along the Chao Phraya River on a sightseeing or dinner cruise. Make sure to get a view of the towering central spire encrusted with colorful porcelain and ceramic fragments at Wat Arun.

Evening

Bangkok's backpacker energy is most visible in the late-night street culture of Khao San Road, where food stalls, bars, and music spill into the roads.
